Can I bring my dog (or other pet) to flat Rock Ranch?
No, dogs (and other pets) are not allowed at FRR per our agreement with the ranch manager. It is the best option for the safety of our livestock and your pet.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes, helmets must be worn at all times while on bike (even when riding in the parking area or to use the porta potty/showers).
What if I forget my helmet?
The office has extra helmets to loan (if its open).
What are your business hours?
Sun up to sun down, January through October. We are closed November and December during hunting season - check socials for last day to ride.
Do I have to sign the waiver and pay the fee?
Yes, everyone who enters the property must sign the waiver and pay the fee, regardless of your intention to ride or run.
How many miles of trail are there?
34 miles as of 2024.
What if I have a mechanical while out on the trails?
Follow any ranch road downhill and you’ll end up back at the parking area.
Are E-Bikes allowed?
Class 1 pedal assist E-Bikes are allowed. E-Bikes with throttles or capable of being throttle equipped are not allowed. Taking a throttle off the bike will not meet our requirements.
Can I go hiking?
No, we do not allow hiking.
Can I trail run?
Yes, we welcome trail runners, but remember, we are a mountain biking ranch, first and foremost. Trail runners must yield to mountain bikers. This is a MOUNTAIN BIKING ranch, which makes an exception for trail running, but does not allow Hiking.
Can I ride the trails during an event?
Not usually, however its best to check our event schedule and confirm if riding is allowed during the weekend of the event. Event schedule can be found here.
Can I go night riding?
No less than three riders when night riding. Contact us in advance if you plan to night ride.
What is Pay-Dirt and how can I participate?
Pay-Dirt is volunteer based trail maintenance. Learn more here.
What’s up with the gates?
Since we are a working cattle ranch, there are gates throughout the property, including when you first enter. It’s important that you leave it open if its already open, and close it behind you if its already closed.
Can I touch or hold the baby animals?
No. If you bring us a kid goat or lamb that you found trailside, we will ask you to put it back where you found it. It is likely not abandoned, its mother is grazing nearby while it rests.
Can I drop off my (under 18) child?
No, do not leave children under 18 unattended.
Can I drive my car/truck/dirt bike around the ranch?
No unauthorized motorized vehicles allowed on any trails or pasture roads. Motorized vehicles will only be allowed if unable to contact us and emergency is medical or injury related.
Am I allowed to camp if I don’t plan to ride?
At least one person in your camping group must have a bike or running shoes and plan to ride or run.

Is there a trail map?
Yes, you can download trail maps here. We do not provide printed maps onsite.
Can I have a fire while I camp?
Fires are permitted in the camping area only, as long as conditions are safe to do so. Check Burn Ban Status. Gathering of fire wood is encouraged.
Are you a state or county park?
No, were a private ranch.
Do people live at Flat Rock Ranch?
Yes, there are residents of FRR in various houses throughout the ranch, please mind their privacy.

Can I go hunting, fishing, swimming, or boating??
No.
